School's Back!!! a cause to celebrate or to mourn....it's up to you....havent' blogged in a long time, so long even ex-bloggers like chongwee would be ashamed....and now since i am so short on time coz i need to do my debate...i'll do this ian style...so sry for ripping off!!!

School's back...some things that have returned.....:

1) Ian!! ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! and his moon and mouse thing that is so cute...:)

2) Sean....and his knee is back!! yes his right knee is back in buisiness, and he can run and play soccer now!!! oh wait...couldn't he do that like 2 yrs ago?? sry mate...the mc has expired...every good thing comes to an end. and he got back in PE in such a great time....sec 3, no practise for marathon and we get games..ultimate frizbee with mr azman...joy

3) Mr Mark Seow...first question to class: "who plays DOTA?"...likes to see the class unified and cooperating...and working together on a math assignment, i get flamed for being one question ahead and leaving everyone else behind...-_-

4) XSH, pestering us for the hols hwk....and now everyone is getting me to speak up to XSH and ask her to extend the deadline...why? i dunno....issit coz i'm the teacher's pet or sth?? oh well i shall try my best to help, but don't expect too much...keep working on that project!!

5) Sean wants to learn guitar....i know a good place to start....let's learn the E flat 6th chord ovr...umm...Fsharp...it's so easy i don't think it even exists.!! but seriously...i'll teach if you want

6) the revenge of the cleaning aunties....not happy so they raid our water coolers, rip off the cover slips and transparencies and throw them into the abyss....evil, we complain to the estate...and they say they had no contact with the cleaners....wad the..so now SMP is messed up!!!!

7) BB...yay can't wait

8) Messed up things that we do in class....throwing ppl into the closet, playing pick up straws and other eccentric things....oh well that's just us and it makes us special

so i get new specs then the frame is too small so it makes me look funny....but ahh nvrmind it's hardly any different degree so i guess i could wear my old pair and keep the new as a spare when the old finally breaks down :)

I got to play hymn 389 coz my couz went for 432...i dunno why though...maybe the consecutive numbers...now lemme tell ya a few things abt stuff that scare pianists the most....:

1) Key signature with more than 3 members
2) Accidentals everywhere in the piece
3) some weird timing like err....dunno
4) consecutive semiquavers/demisemiquavers/hemidemisemiquavers and etc.
5) when you see more than 5 notes played at once
6) Allegro, Vivace and faster
7) When the piece sounds horrific and you have to play it

Oh well my usu cliched line...nth much recently, well sch's back in 2 days...have fun in the last hrs.

oh went out with Mr Azmi to burger king at Holland V for lunch yesterday...he paid as usual but i feel indebted to him...especially after yesterday....

ok so we walk out from his car and then 50m away sir says he better go back and put coupons coz he forgot, i told him it's ok and to carry on, and that we just have to eat faster. We pray for no fines during grace. So we eat pretty fast, talk ovr lunch, laugh at derek for upsizing his drink so we call him a camel for drinking so much...then derek eats really slow so mr azmi says that camels chew slowly....

we go back later, we think there is nth..and there wasn't anything...EXCEPT...a parking fine...which was given at 1:19...when we left the car at ard 1:15...sneaky fine-givers....must have been camping already...i felt so guilty afterward (30 buck fine!!) but mr azmi said it was FINE..haha...

then we hear the tien en song where mr azmi claims that the person singing sounds like tien en...it would have been a little believable but the singer was female and hitting notes higher than even ding can reach....go figure...

oh well enjoying my hols by playing some com now i guess..been slacking for the past 3 days :)

seeing ian's latest tag on my tagboard....i now send out a command...tear off all the transparencies that you see only for today....!!! like tear off all the white dots and stuff...however leave the pieces of paper ALONE....no touchy...wanna know why? coz we made a terrible mistake in the experiment....wad mistake? look:

we are trying to test for biofilm growth in water coolers, dunno wad that is? it's some kind of super bacteria clan type of thing...so we adhere transparency with cover slips on it in order to collect the stuff...however the silicon we use is ANTI-FUNGAL...now how stupid is that....this just shows the culmination of the 2 biggest splutzes in 3.9...fancy trying to grow bacteria stuff when you add anti-fungal stuff nxt to it....hilarious...:P

So i finally get my chinese hwk done....10k words...woot i hope XSH will not accuse me of ripping off some website like wad she did to ian lol. but i did the portfolio one and she is very apparently biased to the parent's love one....like for some odd reason, sean says it's kaypoh-ism. And yea most ppl are doing that one coz it's less time consuming...but i think they'll score higher than me lah...coz she'll probably give me a 10 mark deficit for not telling her how my parents got together....

Back to school soon....June holidays always seem so short and December holidays seem so long....back to sch, hwk, and more tests and exams...sian if you ask me....totally sian...i seem to have forgotten everything from every subject though...too bad...who here still remembers matrices and the discriminant and the inverse matrix stuff??? and who remembers how to multiply those darn matrices??? *sees noone raising hands*...there you go...

ian is the ultimate blogger...blogs and blogs like crazy...lol no one can match up to his blogging skill...recently he did another of the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, stuff that i was banned from ripping off...so yea...lol. somehow i spend my com time doing other stuff like playing SSB with my bro on the com...(of course illegal download lah) and yea other stuff. today is one of the rare days i take to blog on my boring hol life.

Contrary to usual i didn't put on much weight this holiday...perhaps because i didn't go overseas to places like bangkok or like germany to eat chocolate which i probably won't eat anyway....but i'm finally approaching 60kg and i am HAPPY about it...so i am free from the label of anorexic or bulimia...look to ian for that...he's taller than me and like 7 kg lighter...:) i feel better already. and i can do 3 pullups whee....dunno how i managed to do it...with God's help i supposed...thankyou!

Been waking up at record late times recently...today i woke up at like 1045...super late in my opinion. dunno why though.....then i have a real bad headache...why? because i sleep with my hair wet when i bathe in the night...apparently if you do that you'll get bad headaches in the future...superstitions....oooo....or maybe i get a headache outta doing tuition hwk...which was to read this piece of work with a cheng(2) yu(3) every 1 or 2 lines...so i didn't understand the whole work until i read through it like 3 times...i hate it when ppl try to dazzle you with all the chengyu and cheem stuff...it's so extra. simplicity is bliss.

oh well back to school blues....better slack all i can now...and go revise the stuff learnt last semester as well...finished almost all hwk except the crucible for which the whole class is gonna get into trouble i think...noone even knows their group and topic??!! but at least i've read the bk...heng. Ok now i just sit back and watch everyone in the midst of the end-of-holiday-homework-rush. bye :)

I am so absent minded and ill-disciplined....feel so bad after today's events...like nowadays i keep forgetting to pack up after my work so my mum does it for me....well she doesn't have to...it's like i leave my stuff on the dining table for abt half hr coz i'll get back to it later...and i'll pack up later...but my mum's really meticulous and she wants the house super neat and tidy (like many mums) so she'll pack up for me or make noise abt me not packing up....well i try to give in and yea i'm in the wrong sometimes...really got to try harder nxt time...

I keep losing stuff...why?? 2 guitar picks in 2 days...one is somewhere in Breadtalk talking to the Floss Buns and the other is somewhere lurking ard at home...And i lost a present given to me by Michael who just came back from Thailand...man i feel like i'm so ungrateful for the present...even though it was just a simple notebook...but i didn't care for it as much as i shld have...i feel like an ungrateful jerk. will have to improve on these things

well on the subject of guitar picks....no one knows this but i have 5 guitars at home now!!! 2 acoustic, 1 acoustic elec, 1 elec and a bass!! whee...this must shatter previous records...:P but seriously...most of the time i only use the acoustic...the electric is useless with the g-string that never gets tuned properly...guess i'll need a new g-string soon (not that kind of g-string....-_-)..abt the g-string joke...well my g-strings have broken lots of times :) The new acoustic electric was for the preaching point but somehow my dad and i secretly and sneakily got it into our home and we get the privilege of using it :) tricksy

so i stay up again..for wad??? chinese essay writing...5/6 done...one more to go and i'm done with this project!!! a total of 9k words altogether now ...hoping to hit 10k by the end...it'll be a personal record. :) I've got to start sleeping early again and adjust back to the days of sleeping at 11 and waking up at 0630. This is definitely not good for health...recently my astigmatism increased by like 25 each eye....ow.

okkie i gtg like now...gonna go show my dad some tabs :).

Finally i'm blogging again...it's weird how i'm supposed to have more time to blog in the hols and i end up blogging less....just odd...it's probably the mass amount of hwk, which reminds me of langarts A that we haven't done yet, Wait, we haven't even formed groups for that project, or even know our topics for that project, this isn't good.....

Guitar lessons yesterday, the 'padawans' learnt like D E and A chord. They still had lots of problems with C chord, that's a real toughie for beginners, i started with that chord, stupid me, i wasn't aware that there were easier chords to start wif like E minor....*slaps*. So yea, i watch them strum down strokes in fours, wad simple strumming, kinda reminds me of the days i was still lousy in guitar ....now i'm average liao, trying to pick up lead guitar as well, all the scales and stuff yea...kinda cool to play lead you know, you just have to improvise along the scale and play some weird melody and you've done it!!!

Father's day....let's give it up for ALL the fathers out there!!!

this is a short post...for wad reason? well i have tuition...is that a valid one?? cya....like wad...4 days later? lol

woohoo....just watched another episode of Lost....great show...involves the readers alot and also it uses the artifice of the unreliable narrator a lot...like you have no idea wad's happening and no idea about every character until you see all the flashbacks and stuff. Like it's interesting that the protaganist or one of the more accepted ppl aka Kate turns out to be a criminal...lol how odd. So yea...irony is used a lot as well...like the criminal who's supposed not to be trusted turns out to be the person everyone trusts...:P and the mystery of everything still goes on...well this is one show i'll be chasing..lol

hmmm our SMP experiment failed so bad it can't get worse, the ruggers ate our cover slips, the ppl at the SAC did the same, the CyberAC ppl cracked like 4 cover slips....and outta 30 at first, we're left with 12, of which none have any desirable results at all. Derek and I were super disappointed...but that's the way fieldwork is...well we're gonna try again...and i say again...DO NOT TOUCH THE STUFF AT THE WATER COOLERS!!

Well I was reprimanded for wearing open toe footwear in the lab at Nanyang Poly, like the visitor came in and said nxt time i better wear shoes, then i say ok...and i try to laugh it off like lightheartedly, then she so serious, she say again and warn me again...say if i don't wear then the chemical drop on my toes then have to amputate toes...ewww

so me and derek zao to Junction 8 later to meet my dad who was watching madagascar with my bro...we eat at long john silvers...mmm....so my bro says madagascar is a really funny show...and he says too bad i didn't watch...well maybe it was gd....but i guess the 'in' movie now is Batman Begins....i can just imagine tedkin watching it for the tenth time already :)

Now somehow my cantonese is getting better....

So wad's up in the past few days??? nth much i'm afraid...just work and play...a general routine of playing in the morning followed by working in the afternoon, by God's grace i'm halfway through the chinese project work. And i didn't know the math thing was optional...dope

Oh yea!! giving guitar lessons somewhere in woodlands...like my dad gives free guitar lessons for like total beginners and i just hop in and help out...so far 3 students, quite cool to see so many enthusiasts, like it's a bit funny to see that they have guitars and they bring along and the guitars are totally untuned :P, but yea first lesson my dad taught tuning so shld be fine....now if i remember the names correctly they are aunty grace's niece sophia, her fren samantha and a guy called weikiat...hopefully they can pick up the guitar fast....

well their first comment was so painful...lol...i got that too....suddenly i remember that in a matter of 3 mths i picked up guitar and was gd enuff to busk by playing guitar...cool eh? Lim Clan busking lol...

Reminds me...the band thing...ian's back...let's plan sth soon...so when will you guys be free huh? like sunday? nxt sunday? is that fine for like everyone? not sure if church will be available but let's settle on a date first then we'll try to work ard the date... sean's not ard but i'll try to fill in on the drums yes??

More reasons for nostalgia....derek and i meet up with ms phuan to discuss SMP, after that i go to the SAC and have lunch with ms phuan for alwhile, during which i like chat to her abt her san fran trip...brought back so many memories...so here's my tribute to california!!! using the word 'california of course'

Clam chowder!! Woot it roxs!! and just wait till ya try it with those classic sourdough bread bowls...that's the bomb.

Anaheim, in Orange County....for all you OC fans out there!! cozy lil town and i stayed in a place called Fairfield Inn...woah!! So it was a 15 minute walk away from Disneyland. Disneyland was the best, the rides, the coasters, the 360 flip plus cockscrew (California screamin') and the dunno how high launcher that launched me into the sky.....(maliboomer). Oh yea the twilight zone ride, you sit in a lift thing, strap in, and the lift goes down freefall and up and down and up and...you gettit...fantastic. Also the kiddie rides just brought out the child in all of us again, meeting the disney characters and stuff, yea that was memorable as well. And the atmosphere, the songs, the fireworks display, words can't express it all, it was so touching on the last night in anaheim, i was like, God is so great to me, giving me such wonderful experiences though i don't deserve them one bit....i cried.

L.A hit the lowest temperatures in years...and boy was it freezing real bad, even with 2 layers or even 3, it freezes...almost the same as shanghai or perhaps colder. i looked forward to going back to the hotel for a gd hot bath...ahhh....Always seems when we go somewhere for holiday, the place has sth weird, like brisbane was the hottest in years...and now L.A was the coldest.

I have like this diary that i write all my day's activities in....and no...writing a diary is not a girl thing....i mean it's fun to keep momentos...my cousins and bro used to have diaries as well...but i'm the only one who's been writing for every trip without fail, it's so exciting to read my diary and look back at actual handwriting from that exact place and time.

Fun in the snow on Yosemite...still remember my first experience with snow....always been wanting to see snow...when i was p1, i went to beijing and the day after we left beijing back to singapore, it snowed....so yea we missed the snow by one day :(....but Yosemite was the best. Driving up was gd enuff, you see like a whole blanket of snow and deers trudging through the snow...we even saw a wolf (Fenris!!). So i remember the first snowman, incredibly eric-like in nature (meaning short) a big failure actually...but nonetheless enjoyable to make. The first snowball fight...the first time my hands froze so bad i couldn't feel them for the nxt hr...and the soaked socks and drying of socks on the fireplace..unforgettable.

On route to SanFrancisco. Along the coast of California. Places like Big Sur...the tall trees and forests, Monterey....the 16 stop scenic drive that lasted forever, Santa Barbara, the best Salmon Teriyaki i've ever tasted...beats the unagi in sch hands down, Hearst Castle, the grand castle that even encompassed a zoo with like loads of animals....and much more :)

Running across that Golden Gate Bridge, simply fantastic. The wind through your hair, the super tall pillars, the view, and the adrenaline rush. Well i did run across to find nth at the other side but a small viewpoint. It was worth it though, there was the sense of achievement...and yea i lost so many calories it probably led to my anorexia or sth.

Nights of play and nth else...card games...television....staying up....chatting...doing nth...you name it...one night my couz went crazy with the news that taufik won s'pore idol...yea we were away during that time....

Ice cold yosemite, and the hot bath in the midst of the hills, yes, a nice big gigantic hot tub in the open air....now i went in too fast and i burned my bottom and my legs (if you know wad i'm talking abt...) so it was painful but later i was more careful :). Well just soak and enjoy the scenery i guess.

All those horrid car rides that last forever and ever....are we there yet?

SMP blues....spent so much time doing up everything...putting the slides on the water coolers and the signs...if you're going to sch look out for these signs at the water coolers written by derek and me...it's abt our experiment....and if you see these weird white dots with plastic stuck on them...DON'T TOUCH!! the water coolers are the one at the track, outside 2.13, red lvl music room corridor, cyberAC and the SAC toilet....i mean i spent so long without derek coz derek needed the rest after band camp and i was frustrated that he dumped me but i guess he needs that rest....well i hope we pull this off fine!!

'Lost' is a darn cool show....like i like the way they unfold the plot slowly and slowly reveal to you everyone's true identity...like the 16 yr shiz is also darn scary...always have this weird feeling that it'll end up like lord of the flies and they start killing each other and stuff like that....but it's so weird like there's a polar bear in the middle of nowhere....

hmm crucible is an interesting book...and btw there's hwk on that!! IAN!! we need to start!!!

well playing like 3 hrs com everyday and that rox....beat that....but i'm kinda worried abt going back to sch..the hols are halfway through and soon i'll have to start mugging again...the last wk will be mug week coz have to revise stuff that was learnt so that when we go back we won't be so blur yes?

let's talk abt alien movies.....2 in 2 days....pfftt....Mars Attacks yesterday then Independence day today.....a little sian right? I mean i've watched independence day like 6 times or sth already...it's like they always show that show!! note some movies are shown over and over and over again...at least mars attacks was not for 1 yr or sth...i mean they shld show other better movies over and over....not independence day. Mar attacks is hilarious....it's so slapstick it's funny...you just laugh at the aliens when their heads blow up coz of the horrid opera music...and the green goo and everything....it's really lame a movie...but that makes it fun to watch...plus there's Portman in it....:P

Nth much today...just spent lie 4hrs writing chinese proj only to find out that i get one sixth of it done....man at this rate i'm gonna take a whole day to do it...(hey wad did you know...it is a whole day coz 4 times 6 is 24!!) well sigh....got tuition work as well.

my grandad's recovering from a stroke...and my grandma just got hit with pneumonia today....man wad is the world coming too...if you could..plz help me keep them in prayer. Even though they aren't christian and even though i'm not that close to them either.

Nothing much happening these few days....that's the hols for you i guy....well i've just been playing 2 hrs of com everyday and reading chinese bks for leisure....i guess you could call that weird but i've been bucking up on my chinese ever since my tuition teacher accused me of becoming slack. Not that it's my fault...i mean i'm in ACS...notorious for bad chinese...the environment matters....here i am in a sch where almost everyone cares nth for chinese...sometimes not even the teachers....how am i supposed to learn the stuff that my couz learns??? join NYGH??! (lol)

Oh btw....apparently NYGH is darn pro...they learn lots of those chinese cultural stuff that we don't get a chance to learn, stuff like poetry, calligraphy, lion dancing....they have one whole period devoted to chinese culture.....in fact...that's the stuff that matters most in learning a language...the culture...!!! i don't see why we don't learn that in ACS...stuff like stories, poems and stuff...that's more interesting for one thing. even the wu xia xiao shuo that ian reads have more cultural learning value than the txtbks. now there's the education system change...and the chinese paper's changing to less memory, but face it...there are still questions on the comprehension of cheng yu and ci yu....that's still not very relevant.

Wad we should be focusing on is the big picture of chinese as a language and a culture...not on definitions of cheng yu and stuff...that's ridiculous. Of course it helps to a certain extent...but it won't benefit ultimately. We should do more on poetry and stuff and gu(3) wen(2). Esp after the exams XSH shld take some time to do those things...not sit ard in class and slack for the whole period. Of course i understand that even if she tries to teach us these things, no one will care, no one will want to pay attention. So it's not just the teacher's fault...it's our learning attitudes.

now that nth's happening during the hols...i might as well spend blog posts rambling abt these things and these issues of great concern. I think the education system is still a bit flawed....ok maybe not a bit. It's the restrictions of exams and txtbks that cause the teacher to be unable to teach. Txtbks are important yes...they keep things on a right track, but there is still too much emphasis on txtbks...that's not right. If the govt wants to change the education system, wad they shld do is to get rid of txtbks, or reduce them a lot....basically besides the new exam format...nth's changed in the past yr...the txtbks are still just as long and stuff....and all this talk abt reducing syllabus...i feel it's still plain talk.

We need to salvage the situation, the govt. shld free up the curriculum a bit....not so txtbk orientated...they say they're trying to do it....but i don't think we've actually seen it yet...and abt us...we shld change our mindset towards the cultural things...and we shld be more open toward them, so if XSH starts teaching abt poetry and stuff, let's pay attention and not disregard it. Don't forget that you haven't learnt a language for real unless you've learn't the culture.

1) Split your year into 2 numbers. For example, split 2002 into 20 and 2.

Dreaming...

so i sleep at some weird early time of 9.30 yesterday night, i set a personal record of longest time slept last night, one that almost matches up to sean's...i woke up at 12.30 this afternoon....wow i think GAC must have made me insanely tired....Funniest part was that i slept all the way through, as in i never woke up even once throughout the whole night, not even for a toilet break...so naturally i have the longest longest dream ever....i mean ever wondered how time passed in dreams? like does it pass like in normal time sense? if it did, my dream must have lasted like 3 hours....

i think i dreamt abt some cruise ride i had...i always have kinda funny dreams before.....last night was one of those nostalgic dreams...one of those dreams where i fly away back on one of my holidays....and i remember the times abroad...last night was about a cruise ride i think....and ya know sometimes i have dreams of going to australia and going to a hotel...it must have been alwhile ago...i had this weird dream abt going on an airplane flight for pretty long...then when i arrived...it was so real...so real...i was so excited...then when i set foot into aussie ground...the dream ended..

I think dreams are odd things....it's like you can make decisions in dreams...the events aren't inevitable at all...i get to choose between right and wrong and stuff...and the funny part is that sometimes i know that i am in a dream...i know that i can make the wrong decisions and get away with them...it's quite cool. Sometimes...you can even stop a dream...ever had a dream when you ended up in a dark place...say a dark alley? and you totally know that it's gonna be a bad dream? well i had one b4...and when that happened...i tried to open my eyes in the dream...as in...my eyes were open in the dream...but i could control my thoughts to open my eyes in reality...and i did!!! i got out of the nightmare.

nightmares aside....i don't want to be reminded of the various nightmares i've had...but tell ya the best way to avoid them...pray. Pray for God to give ya no nightmares and a gd sleep. hey it may sound really naive...but i've been praying that every night b4...and i've never had nightmares since. scary thought but i've heard that some nightmares may be spiritual attacks from Mr S.A Tan. so i pray really hard sometimes.

I avoid scary movies and stuff...i'm really scared of ghost stories and all...they freak me out...like when the adverts come on...i actually close my eyes throughout the whole thing...tell you sth...if someone really scares me or i go to a haunted mansion ride in an amusement park or sth...it's enuff to get me screaming like a girl....i mean i look like a coward sometimes but it just shows that i have so many fears....and this fear of the supernatural...well it leads on to the fear of the dark...which i also have....i hate being alone...i hate being alone at night...that's the worst...i hate being alone in a quiet room in the night...no sound...no light...nobody....*shivers*

sometimes i have lovely dreams....like last night...i nvr want it to end...but it always does...at the best parts...it always does...just a simple ray of sunlight into my eyes ends the dream abruptly, i try to go back to sleep to continue the dream..but it nvr works, nvr. wad a pity.

Most dreams i have are abt home, abt family, oddly i rarely have dreams abt frens and sch, it's really quite awkward...i would like to have some dreams abt frens, it'll be nice you know...like interacting with frens in the dream world. Maybe i could even dream abt back in shanghai or sth.

Ever had music in dreams b4? it's quite cool, sometimes there's this music in the background playing...and setting the mood, i mean there are no radios or anything ard...but there's music playing and it's so soothing sometimes...or sometimes it's a warning that it's gonna be a bad dream. I mean it's like my dream is one big movie or sth.

I had a weird dream last night...something abt my com having a comp virus or sth...weird...totally..other weird dreams include falling off a cliff and then b4 i hit the sea i wake up or sth, or that one abt the big mass of hwk....or the one abt the skirt....ok i won't go into that one....but it wasn't really nice...but ian would've probably enjoyed it...:P

well speaking of dreams...sean has this dream abt a girl he doesn't know...but apparently it's his aunt of something....funny eh? i mean you'd expect sean to have a dream abt a certain someone *cough* aloe *cough* rather than his aunt...

And mr azmi's weird dreams abt everyone...well it's a weird world out there.
