Coy Camp Reflections

Back from BB camp, it has indeed been a hectic 4 days and i'm relieved that they're all ovr. Now as with every camp, there will always be the unforgetable highlights. Firstly i would like to thank God for granting every single boy the strength to run this camp and having his hand ovr the whole event. Also like to thank God for inspiring me to bring across the spiritual message of the camp, i hope that all the boys will continue to remember the camp not only for the fun fellowship but for it's deeper meaning.

1) Advance party, we got the seafood bee hoon from mr azmi's mum, and as his scouts would say it....BAGUS! anyway, we went on rambling on how the sch was especially freaky late at night (I'm not the first to comment on this). I also found out that again that it wasn't smart to bring a sleeping bag along, then not use it and end up freezing to death throughout the night. Plus there was a furious thunderstorm that shook all the UYO cabins. No skirts this time, i promised.

2) Wing Time the nxt day, that means free time at Orchard road. Suaku little me attempted CS for the first time in many many years and i can safely say i got pwned, but it was partially because i always respawn in front of the enemy. I also tried DOTA for the first time, i see stuff moving and fighting but don't understand, then i decide to stop multi-player and i actually played the campaign - in a LAN shop. What a waste of LAN time!! Yes i remember also us staring out of the windows in one line looking at a bunch of girls playing hockey (i wasn't there). eyes focused on the lower portion of the girls though...wonder why

3) Shrooms burger meal at $2.55, yes a mash potato, burger and drink for $2.55!!!! Ding will be sooo pleased, and so was i actually.

4) Then it was between Sky High, Zorro and Exorcism of Emily Rose. Sky High - too juvenile. Zorro - who cares...probably end up zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. And Exorcism's trailer was freaky enough to deter half of us. I ended up spending 2 hours in burger king sleeping and koping the vacant tables. So i heard that YangJian and Ian Liew left halfway in apparent shock at the contortions and the funny stuff. And the rest came out exclaiming it was a good movie. Controversial indeed. Anyway catch it yourself....i watched the contortion part on a trailer and i never thought i second i'd watch the movie (neither did bong). Anyway, it all adds up to Harry Potters' fault, if his movie could just come out earlier. Plus it was 10 bucks for a movie!

5) We take an MRT back to buona vista, take a bus back to sch, drop our bags and in half an hour, we take a bus back to buona vista to eat at ghim moh, frankly ding would be ashamed of the shameless waste of ninety cents.

6) Night Games 1 (conventional CTF), there was an injury (Matthew Chua's bro), but besides that, i ended the day nursing my sore pimple, my smelly feet, and a host of other things. At least sleeping bags were good. Problem though, we killed 5 cockroaches in our room in 2 days, that's an average of 2.5 cockroahes a day! (v.smart tim) Anyway, i decided to sleep on a table...hehe.
Slept at 1 am that day

7) Church/Siesta for many ppl, i think it is wrong to sleep in church but many ppl could not resist the urge. We saw eric and daryl from the top deck and were pointing and waving to them, but i think they did not want to associate themselves with us so they left us alone. Sad

8) Wing Time 2! Went down to Clementi, and for the second time, fast food, it's starting to get a lil bit disgusting!Mostly boring, had a short soccer match back in school. Then it was the Esmond crisis, we had like this kinda court scene thing with Esmond defending and everyone else giving comments on what he had done in the camp. Yes he and his friends are actually mostly ok, it's just that occasionally their attitude can be improved upon.

9) Well the highlight that day had to be Vishnu's murder case game. It was fun playing 'Stairway to Heaven' to set the mood. Investigation of a murder case, interviewing suspects and stuff, but with a ghostly twist of ppl jumping out in gorilla masks and horrible red food dye to scare you! And yea lots of silly forfeits as well: singing songs, catwalking like models around the oldham statue, seducing the oldham statue, doing pushups with a person's mouth below yours (Alex's idea of pedophile)...i didn't have to join in as i was the squad i/c but i thought i shld be fair to the sec2s and 1s in my squad. Jack Tay was horrified and kept repeating the thing from Emily Rose (At 3 am, the burning smell and then the door opens and shuts)

10) On the Exorcism thing, Adriel had quite violent objections to it as it may undermine our trust in God, somehow i agree to an extent, it is dangerous to dwell into stuff regarding the spiritual realm and i don't think i would ever do into such stuff unless supervised by someone really experienced

11) nxt day was truly just a slack session with card games. I taught Joshua how to do the 4-pile card trick :). Anyway it was a day with 169 news on SK, mafia, more mafia, murderer, and other funny card games. And yes the card game speed against Jack can give you a massive heart attack

12) About Jack Tay, i guess i made quite an ok counsellor today trying to find out what was up with him Mostly low self-esteem that was developed over time, yes his problem was developed, he was not born with it. Always reminds me of louis except kinder and more pleasant in nature when he wants to.

FINALLY, reflections on the camp and being camp commandant:
Well sometimes i'm a bit soft, so i cannot command the necessary respect from the company, plus i'm like indecisive at times and i forget stuff occasionally. Hate to offend ppl, again adding to my softness, when i'm with sec1s and sec2s, i'd rather be like the friendly good guy than anything....but of course that makes me the 'goody two shoes'/ Well it's my nature, suppose i'll have to live with it. I pray that God will continue to show me the needs of the BB and the needs around me, helping me to reach out to those who require it! This camp, most of all, has taught me to rely on God more than ever!
