An Email to Ding....

(thought this would be a good summary of the past events anyway...and to show fab that yes...i've finally emailed Ding :D)

Hey Ding.

Heard you've been online quite a bit, perhaps it's just me who always seems to be on at the wrong time. Hope you'll come online to MSN soon, think we'll both have lots of stuff to tell one another. lol...been rather unfaithful with this weekly mail thing. sorry sorry, but the schedule disallows it sometimes. Finally got down to emailing you..don't want to lose touch with such an important friend huh? :D

Work's been piling up, not sure if you still want that post thing. Mrs Carol Low says she's sending you the chem stuff...maybe even Daniel Yew. Still trying to collect hwk for you, stuffing it into a certain locker 12 outside the class, just unsure of what to do with it. Some suggestion there perhaps? Hope you're coping fine with some self-study of your own and that Saturday school lesson thing.

hmm...just wondering...when school starts in Sept for you, what Grade will you be? Grade 11?

Oh that reminds me of that piano exam coming up...craps. Grade 8 exams, haven't been practicing or anything...so i'm like gonna fail or something..oh wait why am i telling you this.

What's worth telling about would probably be what's up at BB :). You'll be filled with joy to know that things are really starting to change around here...and so many great things are happening even as God begins to move within our midsts here. Moving from regimental to spiritual is a mammoth task, but hopefully you'll keep us in prayers and when you're back (hopefully in primers) we can see God work together...it'll be great.

Mr Charles is back, and he's added a new dimension to the spiritual aspect of BB. There's like weekly BS now and prayer meetings in the morning before parade. Looking for opportunities to touch the Sec1s lives. Even in the upcoming hike (yes you forgot there was a hike arh...btw it would be from Harborfront MRT back to school) the irony is we're trying to make it a spiritual experience...what would Jesus do if he were the hike leader? Love? Joy? Grace? how wonderful.

ROD's coming up (hope you still know what that is) but most of the IB ppl will definitely stay behind to help out in the BB. Live Praise will be on ROD...i'm leading...with emil..haha. Emil his usual self...bubbly and sometimes over excited...Mr Jonas Chow helping out a lot now..he's the worship officer. So we're trying to move to a more meaningful Live Praise...something beyond singing...some sort of testimony thing...to reach out to the sec1s...hey who knows? you might wanna send over a testimony of somekind and we'll read it on your behalf :D

Why am i telling all this to you? well...if you were here...you would be so filled with joy and renewed strength...it's just a refreshing experience to watch God work in our lives and in the BB. So i thought...since you can't witness...i'll tell ya all about it! Hopefully it's warmed your heart.

Been praying so hard for you everyday that you'll find your purpose in America. Don't ask 'how' first (How can i serve God here? How can i glorify Him), ask 'why' first (Why am I serving God? Why am I a Christian? Why am I in America) Asking why will lead you to answer all other questions. There's been so much talk about purposes and stuff recently, and i do pray that God will guide you to find your purpose in America. America is filled with soooo many temptations (to slack...to forget God..), just keep shining for God whereever you are...even in the darkness (Oh yes...my new blogskin.. :D)

SOCCER! Tien en, Ted Kin, Elliot, Eliel, Sloke, Justin....all in this new craze of soccer...yes they've all started playing...and they're really not that bad heh. Anyway, hopefully we can pull more over...so one day we'll all be late for class (oh yes..there was once we were super late for Shue's class...perspiring heavily, wet and soggy, and she asked us to stay out...because she scared we get sick...or maybe that was said sarcastically..but nevermind)

Soccer ball was punctured lol....sean was really really sad...so we've started using the Admin Room's ball...which we just coincidentally found lying around. :D We also always win soccer now...because apparently Daniel thinks that you're playing for us :D

Mdm Loo...keep her in your prayers k? Last week, Mdm Loo was hospitalized for an intestine surgery (removal of half the intestines...)...we visiited her at NUH...only to find her in a really weak state...he couldn't talk or move...was pale as a ghost..and from her sms looked like she was even ready to give up living. But by God's grace she's got better and should be back with us as soon as possible. Often we wonder why such crisis have to happen..but God has He's divine purpose. We prayed for Mdm Loo...and hope that she'll be touched by God in one way or another. (on a lighter note...we missed Chinese lessons for a week, even the uber long tuesday Chinese period...so CL ppl got jealous)

New LangArtsB teacher, a replacement for Maria Nathan...hmm Dr Singh...she's all the way from India. Strong Indian accent, cannot pronounce the African names in 'Things Fall Apart'. She's super super on...and some ppl have started to find her abit boring. Aiyah quite nice lah...just a little too serious at times...lacking a sense of Singaporean humor. She's always on time for lessons..even 10 minutes earlier. Scary.

Haha Ding you got 100 marks for Term 3 Core Math!! Because marks were taken from the investigation thingy :D happiness!

Romeo and Juliet in LangArts A. We've been watching various versions of it...including the very famous modernized version with Leonardo inside...and the weird weird Mercutio...and a version with Men in Tights...as most of the class like to call it. So ya..it's been weeks of sonnets and Shakepearean talk. I can't say i'm not enjoying it...but the IOC thingy is coming up and that's causing some concern...Of course Justin doesn't seem to mind at all.

IHS essay under way. Elaine Lee as lenient as before...she just took a glance at my Lit review and gave me full marks...saying that she wishes she could give me more than full marks...sigh.

Ok now for Physics...do read up on transformers (not the toys...) and for Chem...start on Organic Chem..more specifically the Alkanes and Alkenes first. You're smart enough so you'll do fine :D. Better than our class will..esp with half the class still treating Jason Chan like a clown..ok maybe Mr Chan is a clown in some way or another.

on a possibly comforting note to you...i haven't been doing much work as well...slacking a little here and there...playing neopets. (did i mention i quit SK :D) and just slacking typing messages like this to people..you know what i mean? World Cup's over but i'm still stuck to the tele (Singapore idol and stuff...haha...lol i'm wasting time!!!!)

OK Ding...hope to hear from ya soon...plz talk more leh....we're all starting to miss you liao...

A New Beginning

A new skin always signifies a new beginning. The end of sorrow and the beginning of joy.

Recently, there's been so much talk about revival and stuff pertaining to the second coming, and the rapture and the return of Christ. Lest we get too excited, let's always keep our focus on God, and He will make our paths straight. It's always good to remind ourselves of our higher calling, which is to shine in the darkness, to be the light of the world, salt of the earth, and to be a living testimony for God whereever we go, no matter how tough the circumstances.

An encouragement to Ding (if you are reading this...). America will bring it's challenges, it's temptations, but we all pray that you'll stay firmly rooted to the truth and to God, never forgetting your Christian values or forsaking your beliefs. Make you come out of this experience a changed person, changed for the better, and never for the worse. There's a chinese saying that goes, that a out of the muddy mire comes the white lillies. Stay pure and holy even in the midst of temptation Ding! On a side note...starting to miss Ding a little, will email him perhaps...

Youth Camp this year is incidentally being led along the path of Outreach, what an appropriate skin to complement this theme! Let's shine for Jesus and save as many as we can by God's grace so that when the day comes, as few as possible will have to suffer the pain of hell and eternal suffering. I'd hate to see people dying just because we were not doing our duty on earth. Of course, with this challenge comes the lack of courage to witness, which i firmly believe God will help us all to overcome. Let' s stay close to Him and draw strength and wisdom from Him!

BB, all this change and everything, most encouraging, and i truly truly thank God for seeing us through and showing us a little glimpse of His radiant glory. Hopefully our faces will also radiate, having seen His goodness. and let this be a testimony to all the world that our God is an awesome and great God.

Live Praise coming up. Gots to plan something. Gots to pray. And gots to rely on God for song choices and the inspiration for prayer.

So till Christ comes again. Keep shining for Him! Keep growing closer to Him! It'll all be worth it one day!
God, Christ smiling at us...saying 'Well done, good and faithful servant!' and we tumble into His soft and tender embrace. That's something to look forward to. :) (smile guys...smile!)

An Altar for Remembrance...(Part 1: Preaching Point)

It's all been about spiritual growth recently, refreshing, and new insights, new experiences, all coming up. Well it's exciting and we look forward with anticipation. Really have to thank God now and then for all the various ministries that He has so graciously involved me in....once in a while it's nice to post these serious posts...one day i'll look bad and check if i've grown any closer to God since this post....it's like leaving small little altars around, and looking back to the place to remember God's mercy and providence :)

3 years ago, God called my dad out of Fairfield Mother Church to a little Preaching Point in Woodlands. Every sunday, it was to Causeway Point for church, as we settled down in a cinema on the seventh story. Those were humble beginnings, a pioneer group of about six families from the Bible Study group in the steering committee, everything started simple, there was just an intergenerational service every week. At that time I was Secondary 1, and i grew in a church without a youth group or a children's ministry, it was the sermon every sunday.

I must say it was honestly quite boring, profound sermons and all, esp. those by Uncle Roland (when in his very peak...he is such a powerful preacher), but that was from a perspective of a 13 year old, never take my word for it. Gradually, and slowly, i guess God opened my heart to Him, and i started to enjoy the sermons, week after week there would be new lessons to learn, new applications and new stuff. It was a wonderful experience.

Singspiration or Praise and Thanksgiving was led by music groups from the Mother Church, they supported us back then, and very enthusiastically as well. I would occasionally go for some worship practices, in the mother church....Uncle King Hee, Eunice, 'Ah bei' Christopher, Uncle Joel, all people who had a great impact on me as i was moulded by God to be prepared for service in the Preaching Point...of course i was unaware of His plans at that time...

It was December 2003, the end of Sec1...my dad thought it was finally time to get involved. We led worship for the first time, i still remember, it was so simple, so simple. A piano and a guitar, The songs were 'Only By Grace' and 'Be Still'. It was so solemn, so gracious, so memorable a beginning. Subsequently, God could only get better and better. Thus was the reason for bringing me to the Preaching Point, the start of a very very fruitful music ministry.

However, things only got tougher, with the new preaching point in Causeway point came many new temptations after church, it was a tough battle with sin every week, and most of the time i fell, fell so hard, and begged for forgiveness, only to fall again the next week, it was most painful for God, i was just being selfish, and sometimes i hated myself for that. It was horrible serving in the PP on one hand yet living in the dark. It was hypocritical.

Eventually, God told me it was enough, and enough was enough, i stopped. And that took about 2 years, yet the scars of this sin are still present on me till this day. Only till i rise to be with my Father will they disappear i guess...Struggles persisted on...but God provided to grace to manage them every single time. Thanks be to God in heaven.

So begun a blossoming next few years. The Worship ministry grew. Huiyi slowly got involved on the second keyboard, even the lead keyboard. Occasionally we would have Uncle Joel join in on the drums. It was exciting as slowly God helped me to discover the true meaning of worship. More and more sermons supplemented my growth with the necessary spiritual milk.

Soon, a youth group was started. By a couple by the name of Uncle Wilson and Auntie Doris from the Mother Church. Hwee, Jun and Me were the first in that group, and we started small, uncomfortable with one another even. I was actually pretty much against that youth group idea...thought it was better to just stay in the adult service for sermon. But you know what...God provided, and slowly we were nurtured to God-fearing youths, and the youth ministry has grown since....how much? well...

Fast forward today, we have a strength approaching 20 youths. the 517 youths from Uncle Wilson's Youth Guidance Centre have started fitting in...the next year of youths have started to settle in as well...Tian, Daniel, My brother, Abel...all starting to grow slowly but surely. We've had 2 youth camps in the past 3 years, the next one being at the end of 2006. This sunday we're going to do some street evangelism....TRAC and stuff. And it's getting really really exciting. A bible study group with Michael has also started...and we're kicking off to great years ahead! By God's grace, direct our sail!

Other blessings of God on these Preaching Point...wow...Cell group has been formed, so many so many newcomers, expanding now to much more than the original six families, numbers of course don't matter, just pray that God unites us as one body of Christ in one purpose to serve Him! Like the church in Philidephia...small but mighty and tall for God and by God!

Now...the worship ministry...wow i just can't stop talking about God's grace and love! We've formed a full band...Uncle Kok Meng and Auntie Christine have become involved in leading the worship as well. The mother church has left us to be independent since about april...and thankfully we've been able to cope so far with God's help. He's provided Abel...new logistics person...KaiSiong...new comp personnel....Darrel and my bro...new and upcoming drummers....the two Rebeccas...with some help soon to be pianists as well! How great is our God!

My relationship with God has definitely grown more intimate...i can sincerely say i love Him now...because He loved me first, took me from darkness, Gave me strength, never gave up on a wretch like me...loved me the underserved...and took me and made me beautiful. If you haven't known God yet...what are you waiting for...it's so wonderful to be in His caring embrace!

As I type...i can't help but smile and smile again. Joy!! Joy and Strength!! It's always good to reflect on your life in the past few years...it brings such joy...and such refreshment! and it's just wonderful to know that God has helped me grow and draw closer to Him. How thankful i am. And that's just the Preaching Point....there's much more as well (next post)

I built this altar for You Lord. Thanks for the great work you are unfolding in our lives :)

Speechless Love

NUH never did have a significance to many of us, not until today. Mdm Loo had to go for an operation yesterday, warded in a little room in NUH, grey-walled, tiny, lonely, the ray of light that managed to squeeze through the impersonal curtains did little to brighten the room....Ironically, whilst on one side there was suffering, worry and pain. In school, there was only celebration and joy. Students elated at the prospect of future free periods....

We visited Mdm Loo. In all honestly i expected her to be able to speak at least, maybe a little weak but able to speak, to express herself at least. But what awaited us shocked the daylights out of us. Across the curtains of Ward 88, she sat in a chair, legs propped, fed by tubes, uncountable tubes, with a rhythmic pumping of liquid and release of pressure in the gauge....hynoptical, time passed so slow as we waited for the rest to arrive. Whilst there, we could only look on, speechless at her condition as she struggled even to thank us for coming, writing her feelings out on Derek's notebook. This was a teacher who inspired us, truly truly loved us, she was so strong in our eyes, yet now, she was at the mercy of a terrible ailment. We could only watch on.

Prayer. It was the only way we could leave something with her. God's presence, oh may He just fill that place with warmth and with joy again...somehow. Even as we left, we were all visually affected, some more than others, words of comfort exchanged between one another, yet it was quiet, painfully quiet, solemn, and whilst i tried to smile a little here and there...it was perhaps inappropriate....and definitely futile. Everyone was in shock. And we stood there, sat there, reflecting and prayerful.

Mdm Loo, please get well soon. We're all waiting for you earnestly to return.

Joy in Adversity, i guess something we'll all get to learn this time. The joy of the Lord be her strength, and ours as well.

God will make a way
When there seems to be no way
He works in ways we cannot see
He will make a way for me
He will be my guide
Hold me closely to His side
With Love and Strength for each new day
He will make a way
He will make a way

Indeed He will...somehow...let's not lose that faith in Him :D and learn to smile!!!

IMPOSTERSSSS...but please still tag!!

Wow...another day...tiring...but i managed to slack. Guess what? :D

New LartsB teacher. whole time we were quietly and very tamely listening to her discourse on Things Fall Apart. Ok it wasn't that bad...was insightful at times...but she was extremely strict. Apparently in India, the teachers have a position comparable to gods, even higher than parents to some students! Omgosh. She was like 'i'm strict when it comes to work, but nice otherwise'....but frankly, she was quite an effective teacher. We got spelling from her though. And the whole time i was thinking like: "boy you haven't seen the worst of us yet....". Yes, she shushed at a teeny weeny murmur!

Romeo and Juliet...ahhhh....we're all getting in that lovey-dovey mood aren't we. The modern flick is realllllll funny at times, realllll boring at others, and mercutio is just gay in that adaptation. Of course, Juliet's pool soliquicy (how do you spell it!!??) was quite original. And they definitely definitely did Act 2 Scene 4 better than our pathetic attempt (cross reference to a post on 11 Apr 2005, use the archives)

Loo under some operation, keep her in prayers k? hope she comes back soon (much to the dismay or ppl who have not completed their homework! When to pop by and visit her?

Pokemon craze is going overboard. Even i'm getting sucked back into the fray. I'll get bored soon...hopefully. Stop bringing gameboys to school! :P

Ok now the plan is to send Ding via airmail his homework every month...hmmm the work is piling up in locker 12 now...:D But my dad prefers it scanned...so either way...Ding will get his work...don't wry there!! we'll support ya!

Anon. And Anon again. (for the uninitiated, refer to Romeo and Juliet)

Poverty Poverty...I'm Poor on Posts

Wow!! Tim is finally back. Ok ok guys i'm realllly sorry this time. But you know what, i've finally quite all online games and got back on the right track...yes it's about time...2 years late. Well well...why suddenly got so many of sean's frens tagging here?? strange leh. But HI anyway i guess. The only tags on my tagboard...simply encouraging and wonderful of all of ya.

Well the past week of school has been characterised by many many things....Poverty's been the theme so i guess i'll go along that line.

Poverty Symposium:
Ya so there was the symposium and all...sigh...but of all things we had to do the work security issues and stuff, and we HAD to go NTUC!!! well at least we got free milo, and we had lots of free time in school :D. Did up a montage with my newly found photoshop skills, ok, not so newly-found...but it was quite fun to see the SDP website and how they kinda contrasted the PAP's quotes with pictures on poverty. (Mrs Goh Chok Tong: $600 is peanuts!, Mr Goh: Your problems are ours, ya ya...)

Presentation was sad. Mrs Sim said i presented in a weird voice. Where got?? :(

So we might think that our government is bad and bad and bad. But Singaporeans...sigh...love to complain too much, too much for our own good...My uncle told me...he was with this taiwanese guy in a taxi b4, and someone in there was bickering about the govt, when the taiwanese guy says: You want to trade for Chen Shui Bian? Says alot...our govt is actually really really great in making for us a safe place to be in.

Sleep Poverty:
Yes. Many Reasons. Don't ask. But i will still list them :D

1) Prayer and Fellowship at Aunt's place:
Prayer was really meaningful experience...once again we commited to God the Preaching Point and all the various ministries as well as the activities going on in the church. Durian eating session again...and i'm still too weak to singlehandedly open a durian...so sad lor :(...but i still ate ...and ate alot k...i'm not anorexic!!

2) Hike Recce:
Sigh, that tiring Saturday. Out at 630, back at 1030 (in the nite lah..). Sian, whilst everyone else was resting for that third place playoff right? Well, it was like any other saturday i guess, the usual BB stuff, Guild Time and soccer with the whole of Galatia. But the special thing this time was BS with Mr Charles...wow. a jolly man full of the joy of the Lord, wish i could really experience that joy as well...it's so hard esp. when i'm always so hard on myself. Condemming and blaming myself and stuff...shouldn't be that way..we're forgiven and should be joyous!

So after BB was the tiring tiring Hike Recce. From Harborfront, a mad dash up to Mt. Faber's peak and down again and up to Telok Blangah Hill. Crazy stuff. Bashing through the jungles of Buona Vista, getting ourselves muddy in the land of Rocher road, and getting all sticky and uncomfortable in the rainforests of Dover. Was fun though. And we passed the time singing and singing. lol...still remember emerging from dense vegetation into this 'Little Bali' place, and we were all singing National Day songs patriotically! There was stares...who are these weird people? :D That's us. Well Jian yang got injured so we went back early.

Hike focus was then moved. The irony was that it would be a spiritual experience. Impacting the Sec 1s and touching their hearts...wow...big task ahead and i can only pray that God uses my unclean hands to do His holy work. Please Lord...renew my passion and first love for you...if it be Your will...so many times i feel so dry..so dry...so hypocritical...

KAP for lunch that night. For the uninitiated. KAP is King Albert Park. So by default i reach home late. Bathe. Lie on the bed and as my fingers caress the top of my homework. I fall alsleep. Interesting.

3) World Cup Mania

So Derek invited me for a much anticipated sleepover at his place to watch the final showdown between France and Italy :D It was a dark dark night as me and Fab searched high and low for his place, unsure of his address, up and down those nasty HDB flats...so confusing. But we found it...his nice lil cosy home. Derek and Kenny (affectionately known as Kelly) on the comp playing DOTA, which i'm a total newbie at...never played b4...even if i did, i was definitely button mashing :D

Other activities included playing cards, getting the Queen Spades four times in a row in Hearts, Derek shooting the moon twice and thus dealing me the kill shot, Taiti with no stripping involved (no ideas Derek...), Fiddling with Fab's Gameboy and trying to get corrupted catridges to work....eventually settling for pokemon...yes i know...pokemon. Soccer at 1 am in the morn...hopefully the neighbourhood didn't mind. Barebacked soccer....kenny's fault k? we were exposed.

Finally the match. I knew i couldn't survive. I didn't, i knocked off. Barthez clowned around with the corners....the usual. The most cringeworthy moment for me was probably the headbutt on materazzi...zidane was furious. Over what? i wouldn't know would i? but it was a depressing end to his world cup career. For the record: 1-1 and italy winning 4-3 on penalties. Poor Trezeguet...must have been wrecked after all that.

Slept at 6 in the morn. Woke up at 8. Had piano and school at 1. By the end of the day. I was half dead. Watching Bend it Like Beckham did not help one bit. Oh yea. Pirates as well...the previous nite. I think i needed the rum/coffee/whatever to stay awake. Therefore i was tired!

Art Club Poverty:
Aiyah...no art club this week...so sad. Lejon pon-tang again!

Last week was seriously fun. Sean made the prezzie for his church fren, of course i chipped in a little. After that we went mad making clay figurines of japanese cuisine (ahh! IHS!) Sashismi...variations of sushi...stuff like that. the egg sushi looked convincing. Madam's otah was even more convincing. And we all had fun....for the first time in many many sessions....

sigh..the old OM days...miss ya.

Time Poverty:
Speaks for itself. I've been sleeping more. No time for hwk. sigh. No time to practice for piano exam on 3 Aug...*gasp* that is like 3 weeks! i'm dead!!!!!

Blog Poverty:
no posts. no tags. no blog. :D *sobs* where are all of you?!?!!!

Depressing Schooldays

Oh well. I have embarked on a new and daunting task. Yes collect all of ding's homework for the next 6 months and presenting the great pile to him on his return to Singapore. What a great surprise it'll be. and how hard it will be for me :( Well, at least homework is only piling up slowly. but at the moment, school life is still picking up from last term, everything's moving at a fairly easy pace, slowly...and slackingly, if i may say. Which is perhaps why i have nth to post on this blog. Blame it on school, so sian.

PE isn't particularly exciting when you have 20 vs 20 on a tiny field: playground football style :D

OK so maybe there's not much at school...how about home? nah...nth much too, just finishing unfinished holiday homework, squeezing in some world cup time, reading some chinese stuff to improve my china. Aiyah. Quite sian also.

Btw. Australia Vs Italy was the saddest saddest match ever, and the first time i felt depressed at any match (don't usually get emotionally involved.) The penalty was not a penalty!

gosh. It's late. Got to do a bit more work. And get to sleep. Mustn't forget QT. Argh...school leaves little time for God...maybe it's just me...but i can't do QT in the morn like a used to...and it gets frustrating.

I can't believe this. Fab got his hair cut at a barber!! sloped back!
I can't believe this. We're finally in the new auditorium..
I can't believe this. We have a student council now...and some ppl aren't happy that some counselors have spent less time in this school then us.
I can't believe this. I'm running low on stamina.
I can't believe this. England beat Ecuador.
I can't believe this. I'm actually blogging!

For those who still have faith in me

School's returning. I'm hardly done with homework. Still have those du hou gan to do, and all the stories in that book are all the same the same and the same!!! Haven't had time to watch soccer at all...even though i have the wonderful free footage from RTM. At least now my nights will be free after the korean soap opera 大长今 ended, but that's besides the point, i'm still not going to finish my homework. So there!

Fellow students, i say it's time for us to step out for what's right, holidays are meant for rest and rest only! Maybe a bit of work here and there but it should be for us to decide! Aiyah...but seriously, it's just the Chinese homework that's plenty, it's pretty much fine elsewhere. But that's exactly it...chinese homework...the hardest and most mind boggling subject. So why am i still rambling on the blog when i have stuff to do...hmmm? i'm not sure either.

So i heard it all. Ding's having a splendid and supercalifragilisticexpealidocious time in Boston. He doesn't have to do the homework and plus watches World Cup Matches at prime afternoon hours, not in the weeeeee hours of the morning. No sch till September also. *sobs* tears of sorrow and self pity...and tears of joy for Ding to have a great time there

Church Anniversary coming up..and i've weaved together a video! yay Thanks God!
Ya...really got to thank God for the strength recently...sleeping at 2 am is crappy. Apparently i'm denying my innards the chance to work, such as denying my liver the chance to detox me..which means i'm toxic now...poisonous...haha!

Ok nuff bout that...i shld sleep now

SCV is super smart

aiyah...no one here liao. i might as well not post. but i did say b4 that this would merely be a blog for my own memories. It's fun to read back on the past and see how terribly silly you were back then :D

Anyway, finally got RTM2! hurrah! for those who still can't, disconnect from the cable plug thingy (SCV is soo smart), randomly wave around the cable as an attenna, and try to tune to RTM2 for as long as you can, once you're tuned, use masking tape and tape it!!! The result - not a perfectly clear picture but good enough for a lot of us. Ghana owned Czech (obviously missing their first choice strikers) and Australia deserved not to lose so badly. But it's fun staying up so late at nite watching soccer. Extra distraction now, but also a motivation to work hard in the morn :D

Karaoke yesterday, i found that i wasn't that bad a singer in comparison with the rest of my family. Lots of the old china songs, lots of the oldies, but that's what i know, and well i sang for fun. Steamboat followed closely behind. I have taken a great liking to liver for some odd reason. Medium Rare for the win!

Nananananana, nananananana, every move i make i make in you

which reminds me of a joke from church camp: The cardiologist song (Change my heart O God) and ...ahh there's another one..slipped my mind :D

Tuning Around the TV

I have RTM 1...not the best channel but it shows some world cup matches live. For free! haha! Must admit that the malaysians are so much more appreciative of the beauty of soccer, yes offering it for free. So there! Was tuning desperately for RTM2 to no avail. *sobs*

Stumbled upon a preview channel for disney channel...weird, so suddenly i'm watching monsters incoparated.

hmmmm anime on arts central.
hmmmm ChangJin on Channel U

Wait i was supposed to be doing work.

The Queen of Fruits

as my blog is dying...i try to keep it alive :D

So i had my first taste of mangosteens yesterday. The queen of fruits, a delightable sour and sweet fruit. Unique texture and smooth white flesh...apparently one of the best counter attacks to the sore throat causing effects of durians...coincidentally the king of fruits. Did you know that washing your hands with the durian shell helps to get rid of the smell!! Or you could just use Auntie Doris's method of using a plastic bag to eat durians...a plastic bag glove. Hmmm. prevention is better than cure. Wow some of the weird things you learn at a church camp. Durian party...sigh the memories. Had a good chat there.

Anyway. My tuition teacher offered mangosteen...because the 3 fruits any Singaporean must try are durian, mangosteen and rambutan! (apparently). Now i've tried 2 outta 3...how does rambutan taste like? hmm...those hairy things. Mangosteen stains are tough to wash off...impossible? sometimes reminds me of those stains of sin on my life....washed off only by the blood of Jesus...yet those stains always stay somehow..and i'm struggling to forget them all.

Many firsts yesterday. Carl Jr's burgers are huge. Had a great discussion on Live Praise and we set the new direction. Yes they are huge. Bigger than my two hands could handle. The insides spilled out.

Yes i know that i eat fries disgustingly. Forgive me for going nuts over the oil content. So i squeeze the oil out :D. All my friends shld know that. But i'm not anorexic. I'm just fat :D

MacRitchie Today. It rained. Boo hoo. We did nothing lor. So we walked out of the whole 1km or so road...just chatting and chatting...and making fun of each other. Recalling the OEP days of strip taiti, burnt tables, locked doors and aerosol can sprays. Ian's mirror madness and the Daryl incident...as i call it. So guess what, we have to go back again on monday.

Now struggling with China homework. Gosh i hope God gives me the strength and inspiration

Times Of Refreshing

Tim is finally back. And back blogging. The past six days have really been a refreshing time, much in sync with the church camp's theme of 'Times of Refreshing'. 4 days in Seremban, 2 days in Malacca, wow i have so much to share and too little time to blog! Came back today to a warm welcome chat with Ding, happily watching soccer in america. Of course, with it, comes the worries of hwk...which i am yet to complete. Yes i know you guys don't believe me...but it's the truth!

9 June - 12 June: 2006 FMC Camp. Times of Refreshing

I had initial doubts about going. Having been in Fairfield Preaching Point for the past 3 years or so, i had lost contact with so many from the mother church, was a daunting task to go back into an environment where i was an alien. Debating over whether to go, i was my usual self, 'anything also can', yet i prayed so hard that God would provide for me friends and people to get to know so that i would feel more at home. And He did, He blessed abundantly and faithfully.

By the end of the camp. It was tough to part with the new friends made (and the old friendships renewed): Daryl, Sam, Breanna, Jan, Issaac, Daniel, Matthias, Chew Yee...a whole lot more who i will always remember...sigh. It's such a painful thing you know, having to go somewhere, make friends, then having to leave those friends behind. Daryl was a real mentor, the leader of our 'tribe' or group Naphtali, a real pleasure to meet, mature and well just fun to chat with as well...like a big brother kinda person. Chew Yee....really hillarious laughs and screams, ex-student of my dad, and we had a short chat here and there. And Janice, well reminded me of my cous, she provided a real warm feeling that brought me quite a bit of joy and care during the camp...encouragement boards. Left these people behind...sigh.

I often wonder why God would just let me meet people and then leave them behind...it seems so sad...if only i knew why..what's the purpose. Never mind. One day we'll all meet in heaven again..or in the more recent times...maybe Watch night service at the end of the year. Will miss you guys..don't forget me k? :D

So i thank God for the friends. And i thank Him also for a refreshing time. Learnt so many new truths through Rev Tony Tan. Really gave me new insights to living a refreshed life for God. And his talks were peppered with jokes and humor as well..had a great time. Meditating on God's love, giving thanks, obedience, all part of a refreshed life, putting Him first....not work or money or those worldly things. But it's never easy.

Then there was all the 'firsts' experiences. Slained by the Spirit (not me lah), or the Speaking in Tongues. Wow i really discovered how real and how powerful God was, seeing people moved to tears and falling flat on the floor, or that evil laugh from someone, or the healing and all the miracles. It all happened during the extended worship, a time where we all fell on our knees in repentance, took off our sandals in reverence and just worshipped the Lord. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit as well, i missed it because of a bit of fear, but next time i pray the Lord will give me the courage.

there was an extended prayer session with all the preaching point people as well, where i was so passionately prayed for, moved to tears and i felt like falling but resisted it, maybe i shld have just fell from my kneeling position. Anyway, it was a time where i felt moved to speak in tongues (yet i'm still unsure whether what i speak is from the Lord...guess it'll take time to find out), and i just felt so refreshed, so joyful that i finally decided to let go! We prayed for everyone in that room that day, and others as well. Really meaningful time.

Youth program was a real joy as well. Whether it was the ridiculous game of cutting up bananas and reassembling them (yes...) or eating oreos with toothpaste cream, or having a friendly powder fight..was all fun. And yes i'll miss all the great fun with Jeremy, Breanna and Isaac in my group. We had great laughs, thanks God and thanks guys!

Then there was all the fellowship. I found at least 10 people who knew me but i knew them only by face...haha. all the adults spoke to me and i slowly got to know quite a few people as well. Soccer and eating Durians were all part and parcel of fellowship and getting to know each other better. Yes soccer, i played barefoot, got a few blisters, played with sandals and got more, and i found out that my dad could play! One of the games, had to take off my shirt to retrieve something from the water. Yea baywatch style. My skinny bones :D

Anyway. Will be reflecting on those notes in my file. Thinking back on those encouragement board messages as well. And just missing this camp as a whole. 2008 FMC camp...i'm waiting eagerly for you k? :D

12 June - 14 June: Melaka Hols

Yes! we took a holiday to melaka, drove down ourselves to the Equatorial hotel. I managed to get my hands on the Tiger biscuits on coffee - and it was enough to last me for breakfast lunch and dinner.

Cut things short. Most of the time, it was shopping for clothes, if not lazing around in the hotel, watching world cup matches, practicing card tricks, fretting over homework but not doing it, or just sleeping, or just reminiscing the church camp. Wow. Just a real time of doing nothing and being recharged.

I saw mirages for the first time! and we managed to get on early to the Tuas...so no traffic jam this time!

Alright. Back to the working world. Let's hope God will continue to refresh me every day to give me strength to finish my work and go through activities. Life's a real drag at times, but when God's with ya, everything just becomes really really exciting!

Live Praise!

I must explain my coming inactivity. Church camp. Yep it's gonna leave me with soooo little time for hwk, but it'll be a meaningful time i guess...back with ppl from my mother church (not too comfy but i'll adjust hopefully), The theme's 'Times of Refreshing', a good time for reflection and comtemplation, to get close to God again. Wow, maybe i'll see a shooting star...no maybe two!!

Then out of the church camp comes a 2 day retreat to malacca with family, this means:

1) Tiger biscuits: yes, small but incredibly addictive with coffee :D
2) Buy a new radio? or maybe not...i don't quite trust cheap giant goods anymore :D
3) Movie hopping. Yes pay one fee for a certain movie, if you don't like it, just hop to another. It's really simply done k?
4) At risk of a Tuas traffic jam...oh noes. Lucky it's not sunday night
5) NOOOO TIMEEE TO DDOOOO HWWWKKK!!

Sent an email to ding...reply plz plz plz :D

Well... time for some good reflection and prayer about the past year...just got something from Mr Jonas Chow, to reflect on my role as CE and the Live Praise in BB. Just like to post some reflection here i guess.

1) What level of intimacy in worshipping God are you at now?
wow, i would say this is always a question i struggle to ask myself. It's difficult to say, one moment you're just so close to God, one moment you tend to slip away so easily. God has helped me grow over the years, but in a 'rising sine curve manner' if that's what i call it....rising dropping rising dropping, but nevertheless rising higher as a whole :D. And i'm grateful that as i look back i realise that i've matured spiritually, but there's still a really long way to go. And the process is always so hard to maintain. I can only keep growing by God's grace and transforming power. Hopefully, God can give me that grace to worship Him through my thoughts, actions and everyday life. Keep helping me grow Lord!! Not to stagnate! not to degrade! but to grow!

2) What level of intimacy in worshipping God is the Company at?
don't want to make sweeping statements here...but as a whole, the company really hasn't changed much, sometimes i'm a little discouraged here a there to see little growth. But that's relying on my senses and my idea of 'growth'...i would think that God is definitely working to raise that level of intimacy all the time. In recent years, the company is moving towards a more God-centred company, moving away from a focus on physical discipline, to a focus on spiritual discipline. We still have to 'return to worship', it'll be a long run, i might not be able to see it happen, but it will happen by God's grace, we're moving somewhere. Currently, we're growing..not quite there yet :D but it's promising.

3) Where do you think God is leading us in the coming year?
Over the years, if there's anything i've found out, it's that God only leads us in one direction, closer to Him. Question is how? and that's something we'll have to wait to find out, and seek God for direction. I'll need to pray about this one. But all we know now, is that the main idea is that God always leads His people back to Him, he is most definitely not a God who will let us astray

4) What is good/bad/good but could be improved about our Company's Live Praise?
Good...i'd have to say the unity and the overall spirit, we're always together, and emotional in singing, especially the company theme song. Also, there's little focus on the music as simple instruments are used and the music played is not too loud/jarring. We're always gathered as a bunch, not seated at tables or anything. It's not a performance but truely singspiration. The problem is leading singspiration to worship. that requires understand the words of the song, meditating on those words, feeling the emotion behind the song, and truely offering those words up to God. Sometimes, we get stuck at a superficial level of 'worship' and that's something our Company has to work toward - spurring each other on to true worship.

5)What resources are available for us and are these resources helpful?
Resources a plenty: instruments enough, God provides through different people musical instruments and talents. And I trust He'll provide another group of people who will understand the true meaning of worship and so be able to lead the company into worship. Resources are definitely helpful in achieving the purposes set out. But we have to ask God first on how He wants to utilize these resources. Let's not run ahead of Him.

6) What resources do we need to achieve our direction?
I think we've pretty much got what we need...God's been faithful in providing for us already, anything else is pretty much a 'good to have' and not a 'must have'

7) Where do we go from here?
A question that prompts me to realise that i have a lot of praying to do. And that's probably what's next, where we have to go next is to grow closer to God first, to pray more and to know Him better, something which i struggle with day by day...so much so it makes me feel like a hypocrite typing these things out. But i pray God will guide me, perhaps this church camp will be a time of revival for me, to regain that first love :D.

I love you God, though sometimes it doesn't show, I love you, and i'm sure we all do :D Don't give up in that christian life. It'll be worth it to hear God say 'well done good and faithful servant' and to live with Him and all fellow christians forever!

hmmm just read this somewhere.

"I am not going to pretend that I am very close to Ding; unlike Stalin, I do not put up photographs to emphasise my closeness or friendship with Comrade Lenin. "

Unlike some who see it fit to splash their emotions around like it's a competition for "Ding's best friend"

I quote. initially i responded with tags. Then i realised it wouldn't be enough. I'm not going to be defensive. Just trying to speak up for the people in question.

Sure it's just six months. But it isn't fair to compare across the board and to set a standard to how we shld all respond to this. Some of us not so close to ding might say, it's just six months. Some people are closer, and perhaps more emotional and expressive, they might respond in exactly that manner - more expressive. whilst some who might have been close to Ding but chose to be more soft spoken about their friendship and their feelings. All these people respond in vastly different ways.

I for one am not the kind who will openly declare my love for anyone. But i have to say that i will miss Ding, and i'm not trying to say that i'm his best friend here. There is no best friend competition. Even if there was one i would lose hands down. I'm not gonna talk about my relationship with ding, for fear that i will be accused of being unncessarily emotional. But I've been through alot b4, and i'm just gonna stop at that. It has been a friendship that has brought many joys as well as pain and struggles.

there is no problem with posting pictures - some people actually wanna share pics and moments with others to remember. Some people actually wanna record an important moment down in their blog. Sure, maybe it's not important to some of us, but it is pretty important to quite a few individuals in our class. Let them be. It's just their way of expressing.

on a lighter note (must not get too flustered). Ding was online for like 10s yesterday..but i wasn't there :( to all christians, make sure we keep praying for his protection k? and also that he will keep growing strong in the Lord, and that the Lord's grace will be sufficient for him :)

well well. sometimes we all feel like we've forsaken a first love. First love to God. And sometimes i feel that way. It's like you just hate yourself for being a hypocrite. Loving one moment, sinning another. Internal conflicts. It stinks, makes you feel condemned. But i pray that God will keep reminding me that these feelings only come from the devil. Sure we sin, but we have already been saved, we just have to get our feet washed now and then. And i pray God's grace and transforming power will keep changing me into a better person.

Got to get more disciplined. Computer and SK are definitely things that are stealing my time, time for work and time for God. Better just cut off the arm that causes me to sin. Win the battle before it begins, flee from temptation, and that's why i have restricted myself to less comp time a day.

BB tea session. wow. Refer to Fab's blog. I shan't comment. It was a 15 minute tea session and everything else was just a lot a lot of talk.

Watched X3 for the second time today - still gives me that feeling of sadness - so much death, so much betrayal and so much to lament about in that movie. Watched with my couzs and with bro, was still great the second time i guess. But this time i made them stay back 5 mins for the 5 second footage and got a great fun time out of it! ahahahahaha!

Church camp's coming soon. Four days and counting to finish some homework. Better get going.

I shall post a friendly guide to making blogskins:

1) Find out how html/css works. If these are alien to you, you've got a long way to go. Nice ways to start would be to see the blogskins you download from blogskins.com and to check out the codes there...tweaking around a little till you see what everything seems to do. Another way would be to go straight to a html site that explains html. Another way to to search 'Nature Dreams' on google and find sixseven's site. Or well i could try to teach :P

2) Get inspiration. a feeling? a picture? could be anything. This is the hardest part for any design and is usually why many designs end up horrible :P including mine

3) Photoshop/Paint Shop! do not try to design skins/anything with the paint program in accesories in your computer...that is just weird.

4) have time. Set priorities right. This is when i go wrong :P

anyway, i leave ya with some interesting quotes

all the Japanese players' names sound like food you order from a restaurant!

Inamoto isn't playing, that makes him Outamoto!! ahahaha *insert weird laugh here*

Just wanted to post about Christian living.

It's a tough thing. It's like being a stretched rubberband. On one end you have God and His great love for you, on the other end there's sin calling out to you. Free will was given to God for our good, for our individuality, yet free will has led to so much pain in everyone's, including my, life. Somehow, the choice is so obvious, walk with Jesus! Walk in the light! isn't it obvious? who wants to be in the darkness? Yet we are so constantly drawn back into the darkness from which we had previously come from. I for one can testify to that.

Once we know Christ, we walk in the light, yet while walking i guess we always will get our feet dirty, and we need to get those feet cleansed by God now and then. I've got my feet so horribly dirty, i've played in the mud, sorry Lord, please forgive me. It's so hard not to go back to the mud. How can we keep going back to sin when it's so replusive and ugly. Sin is like toilet water, sinning is like kissing or drinking this repugnant stuff. So why do we keep on sinning?

It's funny how i can be so close to God one moment and so distant the next. today i felt so distant. I sometimes question my relationship with God. I think it's stagnating, it's not growing anymore, it's just stalling, what does it take to move on? is it my holding on to something i shouldn't be holding on to? ahhhhh it's so confusing. I'm feeling so hypocritical, so lousy and so down, yet i know these feelings and discouragement can only come from the devil. Oh Lord please let me experience your joy.

haiz. So hard to be a Christian. I guess one day i'll have to tell what is it i'm struggling with. not today though.
new skin!! so sad. So solemn, don't worry though...i'm not depressed in any way. Anyway, before you go crazy saying...'Wow where'd you download that skin from?!!", lol i made the skin. Haha, thanks to a wonderful beautiful pic i made the skin. One of the best designs yet i have to say :)
posted on blogskins, not like anyone cares anyway.

Fab emo at IBA today, so i was forced to go on an empty stomach. Ow. Had crackers, curry puff, half a sesame ball and fruit bar for lunch. Wasn't that bad actually. And fab in all his emo-ness spills coffee on the wall and he had to clean it up later. We were still soldering today, finished the diode boards finally, played with the 'lego'. At least i didn't burn myself again. More soccer news on the morning radio...some of the quotes regarding world cup so far:

Angola is the smartest team, the lose the friendlies on purpose so people think they are lousy, then later they will do very well.

The main weakness of the Italians is the food. You seen them makan before? knowwonder they're midfielders are both not in shape (get it? in shape?)

Angola (has player whose name sounds like 'aqua') versus Iran (good looking players) will be a match to watch :P

If i wanted to boost the confidence of my team, i'd play Singapore in a friendly.

Angolians will play very well so that they can stay in Germany for the longest time and not go back to their civil war stricken country

*random laugh at weird african name*

Of course, more music on the radio, i've become familiar with so many mainstream songs..

Ding's in America!! yay!! Boston!! if you're reading this, hope you're having a wonderful time there!

Ahhhh!!! i did it again!!! In your mercy forgive me Lord! (no i shan't tell you guys what)

Wednesday, May 31, 2006

So...everyone's concern about my feelings after Ding's dismiss. Let's just say i'm glad for him, God will bless him and his family and they'll have a great time there - autumn, winter, school hols till august, great stuff and great fun there, bring back many fond memories for us ding! Of course Mr Azmi was like 'don't cry tim', ok fine so i've cried b4, and mr azmi (or azmi :P) has seen me cry b4 in class (when i was scolded in sec3).

Last night's farewell was a solemn one, we stood waiting for ding to come over, and he sure looked uncomfortable between his family and friends. Ding's mum was really friendly, really amiable person, surprised that she looked for me among all frens, must be those 1 hour long phone calls, yes she'll get me back for those phone bills. It was sad, yet joyous, we prayed, we sobbed, we waved, we huggled, we laughed, we stood at attention, we shook hands BB style, we presented Ding with a muffin and letter (phil with a cube and pencils) i gave the rough paper :D

Daniel was in dismay when he was confused with Patrick :)

He looked so sad when he left, no matter ding, your frens will always be with you in spirit! God will always be a common link between all of us. Of course there's also MSN :)

so we left for home really late, we gave Adriel a lift and found out that he lived near changi prison, not inside, though that would be really cool. My parents found Adriel a really pleasant boy and they were like 'you should learn from him' and stuff like that. Head prefects.

So long Ding, be back soon :)

IBA, we finally finished all 200 PCBs, just to find out they were for stock only. Not that important, in fact there were probably millions more stashed somewhere. What the. We felt quite silly afterward. But 2 more days! stay faithful! two more days of biscuits, coffee, toilet breaks (to secretly get biscuits), lunch breaks, cold aircon, power 98, and more IBA. Almost down :) yay

Tuesday, May 30, 2006

I really must start tagging again or i'll nvr be alive. This blog is unofficially dead. IBA has really sapped my strength, mentally, physically, wadever, everywhere. Soldering Electronic parts onto circuit boards may seem like a simple job, but the fumes, the concentration, and the plain monotony is probably enough to kill you. Sudoku might be another reason i getting so many headaches but that's beside the point. Kenny was sick today so me and fab did our best as a pair---turns out that kenny was kinda like a liability, coz we did more!

More and more IBA. It gets tiring after some time. Especially since its located in Sembawang.

Yesterday, wow was really fun (sorry we didn't invite ya ian!!), should have invited the whole class though and not just the soccer khakis, but seriously, it wasn't anybody's fault in particular. X3: Last Stand was pretty enjoyable a movie, quick, fast and wow, they uprooted the Golden Gate Bridge for the show (lucky i visited it b4 it was destroyed :P). Juggernaut was an Ex-leeds player, go figure, and well i reminded us sooooo much of Jiun Hsiung (I'm the Juggernaut you *****). So many people died though. And of course Jin missed the movie only to sigh when he heard of the mystique scene (leave ya to find out which one).

First time in Seoul garden, was REALLYYY EXPENSIVE, at least that's something to be glad about ian. Char Siew Chicken and Teriyaki for the win! And Ding ate his ice kachang in ding style again. Mrs Sim was there with her really smart kid Seth Ian (why do you keep appearing to bug our consciences..?) Sim. Mr Azmi was there and ate his heart out as well. Ding had a new haircut, gelled!!! courtesy of Mr Azmi, of course he was the last to arrive for the movie, and we were late as a result. Yes Ding, your fault :P

So 6 months down, we're finally here, Ding has to go, we have to say farewell, we'll all be down at the airport later, whether Ding realises or not, but hopefully we'll give him a meaningful farewell. I won't go sobbing online or anything, wrote everything down on a rough paper letter for Ding already. Just wanna say that we'll all miss you soooooooooo much ><.

I'll try to revive this blog, i promise, it's my fault it's dead anyway. Now it's just whether everyone will come back :)

Wednesday, May 24, 2006

Oh well...heard Ding's gonna be blogging while he's in America...awaiting your posts ding!! finally internet-savinness catches on.

IBA today: Pan Delta Controls Pte Ltd, under my dad's church fren Mr Tan Guan Seng...really friendly people, and we were glad to meet the employees there who we found to be one big happy family who took us under their wing. sadly, kenny (kelly), fab and I missed phil and bong...i dunnno why still...apparently there is too little space to accomadate 5 people...but if we worked on the floor (which is very clean as we don't wear shoes in the room) then there would be lots of space.

So what did we do? We made Printer Circuit Boards!! yea!!! Jason Chan would be so delighted to know that we've started learning electronics...yes diodes, resistors, even the resistor's color code. Yep, color code, and kenny got the honor of being the first ever color-blind employee...most interesting. I was almost convinced he was acting when he saw a green color strip as red in color....only to find out that he wasn't faking it :P

So we inserted resistors into the PCB...200times over, multiply that by the number of resistors per board...we must have inserted a few thousand resistors today, and it's been deeply ingrained in our memory...yea...2K2, 3K3, 10K, 15K. Monotonous, should have been but it was really fun due to many many factors:

1) Music!! the radio offered good comic relief as we hear songs from Gwen Stefani (nananananananana..joash and justin rendition) and Madonna (patrick!! blue boy). we also relished with laughter the nong nong ago singapore idol auditions.

2) Sudoku and my hilarious pile of unfinished PCBs because i was unable to solve a sudoku puzzle (sounds familiar??)

3) Coffee and biscuits. and a few elusive card games during lunch break.

4) basically....nonsense talking, really nonsense talking.

but it was fun

but we didn't tell AT, so he was probably furious with us today...:( got to go to school then :)

i lost i lost, this blog is dead!!!!!

then again..for some strange reason there are still ppl who read it. Face it, i'm just boring, so what for read a boring guy's boring blog, it's a silly thing to do. I'll nvr be interesting. Trying to fit in yet having no similar interests is a painful experience that i have to undergo everyday, it's tough to fit in when you're not funny (albeit trying to make useless lame jokes), when you have no interest in EPL, or wadever. So i'm different, can't fit in, it's saddening.

IBA...wad to do...wad to do, cannot liao. Be towel boys at california fitness??? hehe :P

It's wonderful having Derek for POD project. The spontaneous project presentation today was almost as good as our spontaniety (argh i can't spell!) in OM two years back. Wow...i think we totally nailed it on the head...thanks God! Poor tien though, i thought his presentation was actually quite cool. The five minute hypothesis by Betrand Russell is something worth reading up on.

Imagine that the world was created only five minutes ago, and everything was created with your current memories and experiences implanted in your head. That would mean that you never played soccer during recess, you never ate that bowl of laksa, it was just a memory that was implanted in your head from the started. The whole childhood you 'experienced' was but an implanted memory

Scary thought, but i thought it would be interesting to share :)

Jazz Music, Da Vinci Code and D soccer made today again. And my F2L is finally improving. The countdown to May 30 begins. And that day that Ding is leaving gets ever so close. Oh i haven't even made a prezzie for him >< and we haven't even prepared a farewell party for him of somesort..like the final soccer match or something. Now when should we have it? Fab!!! well i'll really miss him *sobs*, no more person to be doggish around :(

kk gtg.

for the most part of it, A mecks was quite simple today...:) thanks to God!

well ding's testimonial match today. i won't say much but it was a day of muddy shoes, muddy feet, prickling mimosas and splutzness among other things...daniel had a great goalkeeping run today and i captalized on a defensive error to score my first goal in like a gazillion games. Playing barefoot on the 'D' wasn't a very good idea either. Neither was slamming right into J.Low (or K.Low :D) - it still hurts so bad now...i can't even walk properly.

So that's that, patrick came an hour late, and everyone was confused and unsure of who's side he was on (since he was always dribbling in circles). Soccer is a great way to bridge the express-GEP gap...and i think we all made some new frens today! I ate lunch alone again :( and got scolded for muddy shorts and shoes :(

Hope Ding enjoyed on of his last games...we sure did. 3 hrs of soccer is no easy feat :)

so we're rushing POD now. expected right?

so the exams are over. and for better or for worse. I'm back :) that means, more run on lines, more nonsense, more 12345678910 rip off ian posts and more short one-liners. But that's me. Of course, occasionally there are those long essay like posts that last forever.

recently, i've probably grown more aware of myself, and God has allowed me to learn more about myself. So many little foxes gnawing on the vines of my heart (wow brilliant metaphor). well all of us have our little foxes that cause us to stumble, sin, that steal time away from God....it's just that sometimes we're just not aware of such things. And of course there are the mega sins that are steal pestering me now and then, lingering within just waiting to capitalize on a moment of weakness, it's scary. Fear comes from the devil, condemnation from the devil. We're all sinners, but we are also free, and in that way no longer sinners. I guess it'll take a lifetime to find out why certain things just have to happen.

Ding has to leave S'pore soon...that's another one of my friends who have been taken from me. Edric in P6, Ken in Sec2, and now Ding...but at least he'll be back, albeit with an American accent :P. Perhaps i'm being taught how to be less doggish, it annoys the stuffing out of people..such doggish and ridiculour behavior. Different people do have different modes of expressing affection, some more open and more obvious than others, and we can't always expect friends to behave in a way that would exemplify our idea of a perfect fren. Friends...sigh what would i do without you guys...yet how much less pain i would feel without you guys...

exams are done. life goes on. looking forward to june hols church camp and trip to malacca. And did i mention the possibility of going somewhere overseas at the end of the year? possible..and i'm excited.

To all who see this post. Thanks that something in you mind told you and kept you reading this blog :) but i expect no one to read it. And pretty soon this will become as good as a private blog. Then perhaps i can blog more private stuff as well

Sunday, April 09, 2006

enrollment..sleepy and tired. but i guess it was fun marching up and down....hanging around at Barker Road...and just chillin out with all the Sec1s....when it comes to our ROD...wow it's gonna be really really sad. I think it's almost confirmed that i'll go join the Primers. God has really made BB sooo enjoyable for me and it's one of the blessings i must really thank him for!

Friday, April 07, 2006

well well....first AEM today, and the end of the worship module. It's not for me to say whether it was a success or not...but hopefully God moved through it and the ppl attending the module learnt something about worship...and it wouldn't be just a jamming session. Anyway presentation is tomorrow hopefully the glory goes to God. Yes i'll be playing the toms with Sean :P

AEM was great. Mr Sam Tan, ex ACSian and ex BB boy was just the right balance for a cocktail of lightheartedness and professionalism. And i actually learn a lot about the importance of insurance...realised that aeroplanes and buildings have to be insured..and probably even the Sec 1's spanking new labtops.

soccer was good stuff today, the sec1s played a very respectable playground 0-10 formation where everyone went after the ball. We were hounded by like millions of sec 1s at every corner and couldn't dribble the ball out even a few metres. I scored my debut own goal by rebounding a briliant save by bong....and i scored a goal to make up for it. Now the one two with Kenny was one of the best ever done..and Fab went on a blitz and blasting spree again. Arjun met his alter-ego and deja-vu self arjun the sec1. And Zack looked like the sec1 version of Fab.

advice for sec1s, less talk, less scolding each other, more teamwork, more fun and more play! let the feet do the talking.

somehow Wesley Chan still thinks i'm not a guy, and my other name has become Tiffany for obvious reasons...(maybe because it rhymes) wadever i really don't care. Even in the Fabriz Song/Ding Song/ Daniel Song (oh yes happy bdae)/Bong song :P

Korg KeyBoard!

ahh worship module...a bit the streesssssss....

Lost 2...just great...i am feeling a bit lost now

passing on the spiritual mantle. The story of Elijah and Elisha was just so striking today. Just like passing on leadership to the Sec1s. Look for the Sec1s that are anointed by God...not those who seem to be good in our eyes. That the Sec1s are to be called to God, not to us Admin :)

Church is just getting exciting. The joys of ministry. I guess it's one of those things God lets us enjoy and he's happy to see us enjoy i guess...as long as we don't forget Him

i just learnt that Derek can sight read instantly. And that is hax. And did i mention...scary?

Used the spanking new Korg keyboard today...and it wasn't too bad...just too mellowed down at times and then too sharp at other times....ahh! nvrmind...i guess music is never as important as worshipping God. That's why sometimes i might seem slack in my planning of the worship module...hopefully no one misunderstands.

Well yesterday was an interesting day...selling drinks, going around with garbage bags...watching the Admin Room fridge dragged into the track, selling drinks for one buck when a close by drink machine sells at 90 cents, just hilarious. Had a great time though. Lunch was the admin room 'dog biscuits', incidentally, my cup has been spammed by those (how did Asher reach that height??)

ok i'm quite random today..forgive me...now back to physics AA

we have 3 special days today :)

HAPPY BRACES-OFF DAY TO DING!!!!

HAPPY 200th POST DAY TO THIS BLOG!!!

HAPPY BDAE TO SEAN'S LONG TIME FREN VERA!!! which unfortunately because of art club he couldn't meet today...sob. anyway at least you made your prezzie sean. and contrary to popular thought...sean does not enjoy the misunderstandings we have about their purely friends friendship :)

sigh.....Love and Dating...a fitting topic to a school that has just taken in girls.

something struck me....lol the thing about girls maturing faster than guys.....it's a general trend...but ms grace kwee's story of the guy slapping the girl's hand was convincing enough to show that it doesn't apply to everyone. But then again...i must say that guys do mature slower than girls....you can see it from the reactions to things that are said in the auditorium. Call it zeal or just carelessness...but laughing at stuff that isn't laughable...and clapping at the most inappropriate times isn't maturity.

then again...girls don't necessarily look for the mature type...it's an irony in this world...the 'nicer' you are....well it might not be the best.

the best is just to be yourself...and try to grow up i guess...:X

Refurnishment

sigh 16 march my bro's bdae...the usual...an outing to east coast park and a great meal at country manna...boy that was funny...we were the only ones in the restaurant :)

went for parade today...BB parade...even though we were excused...(i can hear some scoffing 'extra' already). Well it was worthwhile though i had to sacrifice precious hwk time (yes even Tim hasn't finished all his hwk). I had a chance to be Galatia Wing Comm..how cool is that?!! and anyway we gave the admin room a much needed revamp, inspired by Extreme Makeover home edition where they tore down the whole building and rebuilt it.

So after lots of cupboard shifting and stuff...we create this cool entrance with a rooftop constructed from the pikes. And the admin room is super big now....Gideon says we can breakdance at the back of the bandroom...where there's a ton of space. Incredible what 4 hrs of clearing stuff can do for you :)

haven't done pullups in a long time...shunned the pull up bars at Dover for fear of more attention from fairsians...and haven't been to school pull up bars coz there's no sch (for those who didn't realise due to the great amount of work..it is the school hols!!) so yea i'll probably deprove AGAIN!!!

kk gtg now....chatting to ms phuan online...directly from australia wow!

my turn ian :)

sigh..back from TA camp...a v.tiring experience...here's just few of my reflections....

1) I'm loving this whole experience of taking care of Sec1s....both physically and spiritually i guess. Spiritually..not quite there yet...there's still so much to do spiritually as an admin. We really need a change of heart in order for the spiritual needs to be met. Sometimes i get quite discourgaed or disheartened at comments like the camp has gone to a waste without the spiritualy aspect...but then i remember my birthday verse Joshua 1:9!!! do not be discouraged! God's strength in our weakness. I really pray that God will give us peace in how to resolve this issue and raise a generation of people who will be close to God!

sigh speaking of spiritual...i really got to get my life right first...that sin..go away in Jesus' name!

2) To scare someone...put them in a dark and quiet place. That's wad i learnt from the night games...bashing and making unnecessary noises will not make ppl scared for sure. But giving them that feeling of apprehension is the best way..ahaha :P. And one of the checkpoints required a person to walk alone into the clocktower at night...wow...freaky :P. The admin were more freaked out then the sec1s lol.

3) Orchard games....wow this needs some subtitles:

a) Holding up a 'Honk if you think I'm Hot' sign and running into a whole group of vehicles at a traffic junction is just satisfying...lol you realise how cheeky some Singaporeans really are...we really got a lot of honks k?

b) Singing 'We are the champions' replacing the 'We' with 'You' to a bunch of girls who we don't know...now being the nice person i was...i actually helped the sec1s out on this one..but it was supposed to be done sec1s alone!! Aiyah it was fun to watch the girls just freak out and think that we were lunatics. embarrasing though..totally.

4) Worship sessions...Ding did a good job...Sec1s were really shaq when i was leading...and Emil...well i pray he'll worry less next time...Thank God for everything that went pretty smoothly. However again...i have to comment on the spiritual aspect of the camp. i dunno...it just didn't feel like it materialized. But that whole thing on coporal punishment banned, and our change of mindset...i felt it was a step there!

5) Change parades...hardly any. Pushups, hardly any except on the second day morn when Wesley went crazy. aiyah...the sec1s had it easy and fun...but then again, that was the change we were trying to make. hope all the sec1s enjoyed the camp!

6) Hey don't be a fool (hey hey), somebody said we are number two/David Hu/Seagearnt Vishnu (who?), we are number one/Seagearnt Wesley Chan, TA2!!!

7) TA test answers...wow Benjamin Liau's was so encouraging :) and yes i'm not being a pedophile..but he's v.cute k? hopefully he'll speak up more...and he is...encouraging! Ok...so Joshua Cao became John Cao, Wesley Chan became Weasley Chan (right out of Harry PotteR), Vishnu became the CE NCO, I became Juniors NCO, and the Drill OIC became Mr Kekanan Pusing (answer provided by Malcolm...ahahaa). Thanks for the laughs guys!

8) Late nights and mega cream crackers...ok the cream crackers made everything right! they were just sooooooo good. Kenneth ate 33, John gobbled down like 20 sth, and kester also 20 sth, I? being anorexic took about ....7? and yes i took XL for T shirt size so i can't be anorexic nor am i thin! The sleeves were too long, i folded them up and was called a girl..bah :P

9) Lots of running. And on the last day we were cheered on by a group of girls who we didn't know at all....of course we had no time to patronize (not like we would anyway). Reminds me of the time i was doing pullups and a group of Fairfield students watched secretly from the back and i went away with an applause :P. It was just 4 pullups...come on..Derek can do like 8

10) Slept on grass with the Sec1s and my legs itched like dunno wad after that night :)

haha...on the overall a fun-filled and enjoyable camp. Hope all the Sec1s loved it!

bb! (no pun intended)

How does one bring a brand new 3k NEC labtop to school...and get it broken on the very same day...as in the LCD screen cracked into 2 parts...and the display becomes all messed up? ummm i dunno...just ask Emil..he managed to do it..not intentionally though. After all, his fren broke it for him and quite fortunately his fren is covering all the cost of that labtop.

So you might be asking? WOW!!! how in the world and why in the world is Tim posting 2 days in a row? isn't that impossible (in view of latest trends). Yes it is impossible. Today is an exception. There are always exceptions :P. Because for the next three days i'm going on TA2 camp. Now every time there is camp it means a few things:

1) This blog will die momentarily
2) I need to get someone to multi SK for me
3) No hot baths for the next few days
4) No comfy bed for the next few days
5) Late nights
6) At least we get to be with frens :)

And no...sitting in an awkward crossed legged position does not make you a girl.

Ok...now i was booked a second time in the term for being late again..because i had to dress my soccer wound...and do my QT !! not fair lor...but i guess it was a good thing that i did my QT...coz the message today was so applicable to the sec1s this year. To coach them spiritually, we have to have a genuine concern for them first. Of course!

POD today shed some light on one particular prefect rule...no eating in class.
Now...we are all 'condemned to be free', and since there are no absolutes..and rationality is limited...
There is no rational reason to eat in the SAC, or eat anywhere else. We simply...eat!
So that's wad i did, pure defiance, ate at the di (that's the track...and i dunno why we call it a di). Anyway, that confession might just get me booked AGAIN...then i get DC!! woot!

ok gtg soon..... packing for camp and choinging hwk is no joke...not to mention i need to spend time with God to get myself right with Him :)

Thursday, March 09, 2006

well well...guess who's been neglecting the old blog recently.....well but you can't blame it on a guy...who has to handle tons of hwk...the major contributions made by Mrs Gina Ong...and ummm....Loo....Chinese and Math. And then there's CMath...just came in so suddenly like yesterday..wham! three worksheets at a go. Well i think i just kicked myself in the foot by not posting.....and now this blog will thereby be declared dead.

" I feel sad giving you guys this hwk, but it makes me sadder if i don't give it :P" guess who?

this is post 194...i must make it to 200....c'mon...just a bit more!!!

hmmm just wondered if anyone heard of the luge at sentosa b4...it was cool. These go kart things that you pay like a lot for a go...but i guess the experience first time was kinda exciting...taking the skiing like thing up hill, then speeding back down again on the blistering road...woot. I think i have pics somewhere...but shld i post them for fun? haha

and of course there was the long awaited re-test for langarts (The Jaguar!!!!)

and recently i've been inspired to another hobby...writing poetry, something less time-taxing than blogskin making...which i have been forced to give up atm due to time constraints.

Poetry in Music...that's wad i shall do....play a few songs of poems set to music...sounds cool?

now gtg.....exponential graphS!!!

Well well...another tough day....every day has its lessons to learn:

1) Helping ppl isn't always v.good..somethings you get scolded for it
2) Being nice (yes LArts Teachers hate this word) isn't always the best...you get exploited in the future
3) No Soccer in the Art Room
4) Mrs Gina Ong is almost sadomasochistic (just jkjk) in nature :P. Spent a whole Amath lesson tormenting us..even though i really didn't mind not knowing the marks.
5) Sometimes Mr Jason Chan deserves more respect (wait...not sometimes)
6) Mdm Loo is really upset with all of us. As we grow older...we learn more bad stuff.
7) Having Patrick on your side is a real asset! LangArts Presentation ftw!
